COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL FIRST AID TRAINING COURSE | WELLBEING
Providing first aid training for school staff, teachers, and students is becoming an absolute necessity in Vietnamese educational institutions. In a school environment, medical emergencies and accidents can strike at any moment: from falling down the stairs, drowning in the swimming pool, and pediatric febrile seizures, to bleeding wounds or sudden cardiac arrest.
Equipping the school community with first aid skills not only ensures swift responses from staff and teachers but also empowers students to protect themselves and assist their peers. This contributes to a safe, healthy school environment that strictly complies with legal regulations.
Wellbeing – a proud member of the British Safety Council – has developed a specialized School First Aid Training program tailored for all educational levels, from kindergarten to high school. The curriculum is meticulously designed around real-life school scenarios, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice using international-standard medical mannequins. This ensures that every participant leaves confident and capable of handling emergencies professionally.
1. Why Do Schools Need First Aid Training?
According to Decision No. 4501/QĐ-BGDĐT by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) regarding the prevention of accidents and injuries among children and students, the vital role of school first aid training is emphasized through specific targets:
1.1. General Objectives:
-
Equip children with the knowledge to gradually control and minimize injuries, particularly drowning and traffic accidents.
-
Enhance awareness, knowledge, and injury prevention skills, with a strong focus on popularizing drowning prevention, swimming skills, and water safety in high-risk areas.
1.2. Specific Targets:
-
90% of kindergarten teachers, homeroom teachers, and youth union leaders must be trained in basic injury prevention.
-
Over 90% of physical education (PE) teachers in general schools must be trained in first aid, drowning prevention, swimming instruction, and basic life support.
-
At least 50% of educational institutions meet the "Safe School" standards for injury prevention.
-
100% of educational institutions establish plans and organize educational campaigns to guide students on safety skills.
-
100% of students are educated on common causes of injuries and guided on basic prevention methods.
2. Target Audience, Duration, and Training Methodology
Our School First Aid program is designed for two main groups:
-
School staff, teachers, and administrators (Kindergarten to Grade 12).
-
Students from Grade 1 to Grade 12 (Curriculum is age-appropriately modified).
Instructor Profile: 100% of our trainers are certified medical doctors who graduated from Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, possessing extensive practical experience in pediatric emergencies and community first aid. Flexible Duration: 3 hours (Basic), 6 hours (Advanced), or 8 hours (Comprehensive). Training is conducted directly on-site at the school. Class Size: Maximum 30 participants per class to ensure personalized guidance and error correction. Certification: Upon completion, participants receive a First Aid Certificate valid for 1 year, fully compliant with the regulations of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
3. Detailed Core Curriculum
Our program is appraised and recognized by MOLISA and MOH, covering the following core modules:
-
3.1. The 6 Basic Principles of First Aid: Scene safety, Victim assessment (ABC: Airway – Breathing – Circulation), Calling 115, Initial aid, Monitoring, and Safe handover.
-
3.2. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): The most critical life-saving skill. Participants practice high-quality CPR for children and teens following AHA guidelines (appropriate compression-to-ventilation ratio, correct depth, and a rate of 100-120 compressions/minute).
-
3.3. Bleeding Control: Wound assessment, temporary hemostasis via direct pressure, bandaging, limb elevation, and shock monitoring.
-
3.4. Safe Victim Transport: Techniques for lifting, using stretchers, and moving victims with suspected spinal injuries or fractures without causing further harm.
-
3.5. Managing Common Pediatric Illnesses: Handling febrile seizures (recovery position, cooling, strictly no force-feeding), acute diarrhea, nosebleeds, severe allergies/anaphylaxis, acute asthma, and food/chemical poisoning.
-
3.6. Managing Common School Accidents: Drowning (administering artificial respiration safely), burns (cooling with water for 20 minutes), electrocution, choking (Heimlich maneuver for older children, back blows for infants), and fall-related traumas.
4. Tangible Benefits of the Training Course
After completing the course, participants and the school will gain:
-
Accurate, easily applicable, and retained medical knowledge.
-
Proficiency in handling practical, everyday emergencies involving students.
-
Enhanced teamwork and coordination during a crisis, significantly reducing reaction times.
-
Legally recognized MOLISA & MOH First Aid Certifications.
-
For the School: Elevate brand value, build a legally compliant Safe School environment, minimize liabilities, and earn absolute trust from parents.
